Confident with the popularity of its Canvas phones, Micromax launched its first ‘premium’ 8-inch tablet. The flagship tablet called Canvas Tab P650 costs Rs 16,500.

The tablet does look great with all-metallic aluminium body and has specifications similar to that of the Canvas phone. It comes with a quad core processor and 1GB of RAM.

It’s a 3G tablet with a slot for one SIM card and supports voice calls.

Powered by a 1.2 GHz quad core processor, the tablet has an IPS display with a 5-point multitouch and a  resolution of 1024 x 768 pixels.

Canvas Tab features a 5MP rear camera and a 2MP front camera for video calls. The rear camera can record 720p HD videos.

For the first time, Micromax’s tablet will have a 16GB internal memory, expandable up to 32GB with a memory card.

Out of the box, the tablet comes with Android 4.2 Jelly Bean OS, which will get OTA (over the air) updates.

It packs a 4800 mAh battery that allows you 10 hours of talk time and five hours of internet browsing time.

Micromax is also giving a free flip cover for the tablet.

Customers have option to choose from two colours - blue and white.

Call it gimmicky, but Canvas Tab also comes loaded with software. For example, it has the software that can pause a video when the user looks away and a software that allows users to pin videos and browser in one of the screen while he or she use the other half for other activities.

The tablet competes directly with Samsung’s Galaxy Tab 3 that features a 1.2 GHz dual core processor and 1GB RAM and only 8 GB internal memory.
