Sanjay and Rachna Narang

Company: Mars Group

Industry: Hospitality

Mars Group owns and operates a number of establishments, including Waterstones Hotel and Waterstones Club, Eat Around The Corner and Pizza By The Bay. Sanjay Narang, who studied hotel management at Cornell University, set up a chain of restaurants under various brands and formats across India and also airline catering units under the "Skygourmet" brand, according to the company website.

Rachna Narang, who also studied at Cornell, was the brains behind setting up and managing a chain of Bakery shops called Croissants. She now heads the in-house Design Team and is responsible for designing all Mars Hotels and Restaurants, it says.

Nilesh and Vinita Gupta

Company: Lupin Limited

Industry: Pharmaceuticals

Lupin Limited, which is based in Mumbai, is the second-largest pharmaceutical company by market capitalisation in India, the 14th-largest generic pharmaceutical company in the world and the fifth-largest generic pharmaceutical company in the United States by prescription-led market share, according to Wikipedia.

Nilesh, who studied at Wharton School, handles all research-related activities and supply chain along with many other responsibilities. Vinita, who studied at Kellog Graduate School of Management, handles Lupin's role in advance markets and manages United States and Europe among other roles, according to the company's website.

Anand and Nandini Piramal

Company: Piramal Group

Industry: Diversified conglomerate

Piramal Group, a diversified global business conglomerate has business in several areas, including healthcare, pharmaceuticals, innovative research & development, information management, financial services, real estate, and packaging glass.

Anand has been instrumental in the Piramal Group’s foray into real estate, and leads the Piramal Realty business as Executive Director. He graduated with Bachelors in Economics from the University of Pennsylvania and received an MBA from Harvard Business School, according to the company's website.

Nandini leads the over-the-counter division, which has well-known brands like Lacto Calamine and Saridon within its fold. She is also responsible for the Human Resources function at the group. She graduated with a BA with Honors from Oxford University and an MBA from Stanford Graduate School of Business, it says.

Tanya Dabash, Nisaba Godrej and Pirojsha Godrej

Godrej, which has a turnover of more than $3 billion, operates in various sectors, including real estate, consumer products, industrial engineering, appliances, furniture, security and agricultural products.

Tanya Dubash is on the boards of several companies, including Godrej Consumer Products, Godrej Industries and Godrej Agrovet. As Executive Director & Chief Brand Officer she is also charged with enhancing the value of the Godrej brand. She is AB cum laude, Economics & Political Science, Brown University, and an alumnus of the Harvard Business School, according to the company's website.

Nisaba is Executive Director, Godrej Consumer Products, and leads the innovation strategy for the company. She also oversees the corporate strategy and human capital functions for Godrej Industries and Associate Companies. Nisaba has a BSc degree from Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania, and an MBA from Harvard Business School, it says.

Pirojsha Godrej is the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Godrej Properties. After graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Economics from Wharton School of Business in 2002, Pirojsha completed his Masters in International Affairs from Columbia University in 2004, according to the company's website.

Ashni and Vivek Biyani

Future Group, which is a privately held company, runs a number of businesses across retail, financial and service industries.

Ashni, who went to high school in Mumbai and then moved to Bangalore for a design degree, has been the brains behind the openings of Big Bazaar “family centres". Her cousin Vivek Biyani manages Future Group's Home Town.

Akash and Isha Ambani

Mukesh and Nita's children Akash and Isha are also likely to enter the family business. Akash completed his undergraduate studies from Brown University and Isha has majored in psychology and South Asian studies from Yale University.
