Should airlines give 'khaas aadmi' treatment to MPs at airports?

Last updated on: January 30, 2014 12:36 IST

The government has asked the private airlines to ensure that Members of Parliament get special privileges in line with what Air India has been providing.

The privileges include faster security clearances, lounge access, complimentary tea, coffee or water, free access in the terminal building, and designation of one officer of airport as Protocol Officer to extend all facilities and courtesies to MPs.

Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has already criticised the Centre's directive on Twitter. He says: “To be demanding special privileges for 'VIPs' in this political atmosphere takes a special kind of disconnect with reality."

Do you agree with the government’s idea of extending benefits to the MPs while you have to pay double the price of everything inside an airport and go through the thorough security check?
