We live in a global marketplace. While all real estate is local, not all property buyers are. A significant share of home purchases are made by people whose primary residence is outside of the US, says National Association of Realtors in a report.
In the past year sales of American homes to foreign residents (and recent immigrants) increased by nearly a quarter to $82.5 billion, comprising almost nine per cent of the $930 billion home sales market, according to The Economist.
