For those who are afraid to fly, here are the airlines that have the best record for safety.

Taking into account a number of different factors related to audits from aviation’s governing bodies and lead associations as well as government audits and the airline’s fatality record, AirlineRatings have compiled the list of the safest airlines in the world.

For the awards, the company evaluated 448 airlines surveyed.

Royal Jordanian

Country: Jordan

Royal Jordanian Airlines is the flag carrier of Jordan with its head office in Amman. The airline operates over 500 flights per week.

The airline operates service in over four continents and is a membe of Arab Air Carriers Organisation and Oneworld.

All Nippon Airways

Country: Japan

All Nippon Airways is Japan's largest airline headquartered at Tokyo. It operates services to 49 destinations in Japan and 32 international routes and employs over 14,000 employees.

EVA Air

Country: Taiwan

EVA Airways is the second largest Taiwanese airline headquartered in Luzhu, TaoyuanCounty. It operates passenger and dedicated cargo services to over 40 international destinations in Asia, Australia, Europe and North America.

Virgin Atlantic

Country: UK

Virgin Atlantic is a British airline owned by Richard Branson's Virgin Group (51 per cent) and Delta Air Lines (49 per cent). The airline is headquartered in West Sussex, near GatwickAirport.

Virgin Atlantic uses a mixed fleet of Airbus and Boeing wide-body jets and operates between the United Kingdom, North America, the Caribbean, Africa, the Middle East, Asia, and Australia from its main base at Gatwick with secondary bases at London Heathrow and Manchester, according to Wikipedia.

Singapore Airlines

Country: Singapore

Singapore Airlines is the flag carrier of Singapore and operates a hub at ChangiAirport. It has many subsidiaries through which it manages regional airline, low-cost airline, and cargo operation.

Some of the companies where Singapore airlines has a stake include SilkAir, Singapore Airlines Cargo, and Tiger Airways. The group once had a 49 per cent shareholding in Virgin Atlantic.

It ranks amongst the top 15 carriers worldwide in terms of revenue passenger kilometres, and 10th in the world for international passengers carried, according to Wikipedia.

Cathay Pacific

Country: Hong Kong

Cathay Pacific is the international flag carrier of Hong Kong. The airline's operations include scheduled passenger and cargo services to 168 destinations in 42 countries.

The airlines is currently the third largest airlines in the world as per the market capitalisation.

Etihad

Country: United Arab Emirates

Etihad Airways is the flag carrier airline of the United Arab Emirates. It operates more than 1,000 flights per week to 96 passenger and cargo destinations in the Middle East, Africa, Europe, Asia, Australia and the Americas, according to Wikipedia.

Qantas is the flag carrier airline of Australia, and the second oldest airlines in the world overall.

Qantas carries a 65 per cent share of the Australian domestic market and carries 18.7 per cent of all passengers travelling in and out of Australia.
