Large and small Indian companies may face difficulties in filling up vacancies and moving staff from country to country owing to the new British immigration rules, an influential group of British MPs from the Home Affairs committee have been told.

The committee headed by Rt Hon Keith Vaz, MP, travelled to India and Bangladesh as part of their inquiry into the new immigration rules that are coming into effect in the UK next month.

During their visit, they met with large corporations such as NASCOM which owns business in Britain as well as small business owners and the visa centres themselves.

They also took part in a major public stakeholder meeting which gave local people, who will be most affected by these changes, the chance to let their views known to the British MPs.

The chairman of the Committee, Rt Hon Keith Vaz said: "It was extremely useful to the inquiry to hear from the people who will be most affected by these changes. Large companies such as NASCOM told us that they believe that they will have difficulties in filling vacancies and moving staff from country to country.

"Smaller businesses told us that they face similar difficulties but are faced with the added problem that they do not have the finances available to get the advice that they need."
