The Centre assured telecom tribunal TDSAT on Wednesday that there would be no allocation of spectrum till November 12, the next date of hearing on GSM operator's petition against the new guidelines.
Tribunal Chairman Justice Arun Kumar adjourned the hearing after Solicitor General Goolam E Vahanvati, appearing for the Centre, told the tribunal that "there will be no allocation of spectrum to any player".
At the very outset of the hearing, Justice Kumar suggested the SG to look
into the matter as many parties are involved in the case and the government should be fair to all.
Vahanvati then assured the tribunal that nothing will be done with regard to the spectrum allocation.
The tribunal was hearing a petition filed by COAI, a lobby group of GSM operators, challenging the government's October 19 decision to permit CDMA service providers into the GSM segment and allowing enhanced subscriber linked criterion for allocation of additional spectrum.
