Satyam, TCS bag Qantas deal

Satyam Computer Services has signed a $71 million seven-year contract with Qantas for development and maintenance of over 150 applications across a wide portfolio of technologies.

According to a release issued by Satyam to the Bombay Stock Exchange, the contract followed an extensive, 12-month review by Qantas of Satyam's information technology applications development, support and maintenance functions.

"The partnership calls for Satyam to further enhance Qantas' operational efficiency. With our experience across ADMS and the airline industry, we look forward to expanding this relationship for any IT application development project in the future with Qantas," Virender Aggarwal, senior VP and director (Asia Pacific & MEIA) of Satyam, said.

Tata Consultancy Services has also signed a seven-year engagement for an estimated Rs 402 crore ($90 million) with Qantas to provide a range of IT application, transformation and maintenance services.

"The Qantas engagement is a significant milestone for TCS' airline business, and is the result of our extensive investments in building domain expertise that has helped create innovative solutions for companies," S Ramadorai, CEO and MD of TCS, said.
