Information technology giant Tata Consultancy Services on Tuesday said it plans to develop a new facility in three phases at Gandhinagar, Gujarat.

The first phase of global software development centre is expected to house 2,000 seats once fully commissioned, TCS said in a release in Mumbai.

The Gandhinagar facility, to be completely operational in 18 months, would cater to the needs of the government and utility sector clients of TCS as well as focus on ERP (enterprise resource planning) projects being executed by the company for global clients, it said.

The facility would augment the presence of TCS in Gujarat, where the company is already working with the government as well as other public-sector firms and dairy co-operatives it said, adding the company has already recruited over 480 employees in the state during the current financial year.

"TCS plans to play an integral role in the further development of the Gujarat economy by working with corporations and helping train and develop the talent in the state," TCS CEO and managing director S Ramadorai said.
