Bank unions on Thursday called for a nationwide strike on August 24 to protest the 'negative attitude' of the Indian Bank Association over employees' wage revision.
The United Forum of Bank Unions held a dharna in Delhi in which representatives of all nine constituent unions participated.
"All the nine constituents of UFBU -- AIBEA, AIBOC, NCBE, AIBOA, BEFI, INBEF, INBOC, NOBW and NOBO -- have decided to observe the nationwide strike on August 24 against the rigid and negative attitude of IBA on wage revision of bank employees due from November 2002," UFBU convener V K Gupta said in release.
