Apart from two walkman phones, the company also unveiled a personal digital assistant phone P990i, which will be available in the market in first quarter of 2006.
Sony Ericsson, a four-year-old brand in India, has managed a place among the top three handset vendors in the Indian market largely on the back of product differentiation, new models and large distribution network.
"We are just a four year old brand and among the top three in the mobile phone handset market. We are also gaining marketshare," Sudhin Mathur, general manager, Sony Ericsson (India) said.
The company had recently launched a walkman phone, which derives its name and inspiration from Sony's legendary brand of personal stereos.
"The walkman strategy has paid-off. We have identified music as the next platform for mobile telephony and will continue to furnish products, which will fulfill this growing need of Indian market," Mathur said.
The company already has 16 models of phones in India and will launch more in the coming quarters.
Apart from technology, the company is also tagging content on its phones. "Sony has a huge library of content. We will bundle this content with the phones," Mathur said.Apart from content, the company is also launching future-ready phones for the third generation mobile phone networks.
"Third generation mobile phone technology would be next area of focus for us." Mathur said.
The company had earlier launched 3G phones in the Indian market and W9001, which is also 3G enabled, would be available in the market this year itself.
