NRI plans biz school in Kerala

George M Thomas, a non-resident Indian businessman based in Oman plans to set up a Rs 30-crore (Rs 300-million) business school in Thiruvananthapuram.

To be called the Asian School of Business, the institute will offer programmes equivalent to an MBA and the first batch of 60 students will be admitted in July.

Thomas, who had launched Kerala's first international school in 2003, said the institute will, 'also offer a postgraduate programme in management for entrepreneur managers'.

Stating than a competitive examination will be held to select students for admission, Thomas said the school will charge Rs 350,000 as fees for the full-time course.

The thrust areas of the two-year postgraduate course would be management and technology management and there would also be a part-time course for working professionals.

The school will also have visiting faculty from India and abroad.
