RGV Film Factory, the production company floated by film producer and director Ram Gopal Varma, is entering the capital market to raise Rs 100 crore.

The initial public issue is expected to hit the market in three months. UTI Securities has been appointed as the merchant banker to the issue.

About his decision to take the company public, Varma said the proposed listing would make fund-raising relatively easy.

He said the company needed funds to consolidate its position in the global arena.

"India is not only the world's largest producer of feature films, but also the largest market in terms of audience. I believe that Indian films can become a much bigger commercial force in the global arena," added Varma.

Varma categorically stated that all his future ventures will be routed through RGVFFL and for its own needs.

K Srinivas, president, UTI Securities said, "While film production companies in the US are publicly traded, In India, the domestic industry continues to be fragmented and disorganised, barring a few exceptions. There are very few companies corporate entities which can conceive and execute projects on time and within the budget."

Varma also said the deal with Adlabs was for specific projects which had already been identified. The money raised from the public issue would be used to create and execute further new projects.
