A passenger travelling in AC-II, AC-III and AC chair car will have to pay Rs 44 and Rs 88 for their breakfast, lunch and dinner instead of Rs 41.25 and Rs 66 respectively, while those travelling in AC First Class and Executive Class will
now have to pay Rs 88 and Rs 132 for the same meals instead of Rs 82.50, a Railway Ministry spokesman told PTI.
Similarly, an AC-II, AC-III and chair car passenger of these trains will have to pay Rs 25 for their morning tea, drinks, light refreshments and Rs 44 for evening high tea/coffee instead of Rs 13.75 and 41.25 respectively.
AC First Class and Executive Class passengers will have to pay Rs 23 and Rs 66 for the same refreshments, he said. "Fares of Rajdhani/Shatabdi trains will increase accordingly", the spokesman said.
He said the 11.2 per cent service tax will be charged by licensee or departmental staff for other Mail/Express trains in addition to the food cost.
Though the tax was applicable to all the Mail and Express trains but passengers of Rajdhani and Shatabdi will have to shell out the extra amount as the charge imposed on the on-board catering was included in the fare, he said.
