Delegates from at least 50 countries including the UK are expected to participate in the three-day event from January 9, Mitra, who led a 3-member FICCI delegation, told PTI shortly before leaving for Delhi.

Lord Navnit Dholakia, president of UK's Liberal Democrats Party, Baroness Shriela Flather and Baroness Usha Prashar, NRI industrialist Sir Gulam Noon and chief of the Cobra Beer, Karan Billimoria have confirmed their attendance, he said.

Mitra said 20 youths from different parts of the world who have made a mark in their respective fields would be chosen for participation in the Pravasi Divas.

"We want to see India as a health hub," Mitra said, adding that physicians of Indian origin from the US, UK and several other countries were expected to participate.

As part of its plan to emphasise on young people during the Pravasi Bharatiya Divas, Mitra said FICCI has offered two weeks' hospitality to selected persons who will work with the Pravasi team and have an interface with the youth leaders of India.

He said so far delegates from 31 countries have confirmed their attendance. "We hope to see delegates from 45 to 50 countries," he said.

The other two members of the delegation, which concluded its four-day "successful" visit were Vivek Bharati, advisor, FICCI and Amita Sarkar, deputy director general, FICCI.

Besides holding discussions in London, the delegation also met 200 leading NRIs in Birmingham.

The Pravasi Divas is being jointly organised by the Union government and the FICCI.
