The Madhya Pradesh State Electricity Board has employed 'musclemen' to recover huge dues from customers in Morena under its new policy 'Muscle Power Recovery.'
"The contractor is given Rs 100 on every connection of the defaulter that he cuts or recovers the dues under the new policy," MPSEB Divisional Executive Engineer R P Shrivastava said in Morena on Tuesday.
Under the new policy, the MPSEB had invited 'influential persons' to recover dues of Rs 22 crore (Rs 220 million) from defaulters in the circle, he said, adding that the policy has yielded good results as over 100 connections of defaulters have been severed and recoveries made in last few days.
The contractor has also been asked to ensure that the defaulter does not make illegal connections once his original power supply is cut, the MPSEB official said.
The MPSEB has also initiated penal action against several defaulters, he added.
