Joining the low-fare war triggered by its rival airline, AirAsia, Malaysia's flag air-carrier, Malaysia Airlines on Monday announced all-inclusive fares as low as Rs 5,742 for one-way travel to Kuala Lumpur as a part of its special monsoon fares.

The maximum return fares under the offer would be Rs 14,993, a company press release said.

The airline offers these competitive fares from its current five gateways in India -- New Delhi, Chennai, Mumbai, Bangalore and Hyderabad.

"Our monsoon fares are in-sync with our focused consumer-centric approach to offer competitive and value deals along with five star flying comforts. With these fares the consumers can avail the full range of services such as onboard refreshments, flight entertainment, 20 kg baggage allowance, allocated seats and more," Malaysia Airlines' regional manager (South Asia operations), Azahar-Bin-Hamid, said.

Tickets under the monsoon offer can be booked up to June 29 and the travel can be undertaken between July 22 and December 14, 2010, the release said, adding all fares include airport taxes, fuel surcharges and administrative fees.

Under the offer, while an all-inclusive single way fare on the Chennai-Kuala Lampur is priced at Rs 5,742, a return journey between Mumbai and Kuala Lumpur would cost a customer only Rs 14,293, the airline said.

Similarly, a one-way journey (Delhi-Kuala Lumpur) is priced at Rs 8,042, while the return ticket for the same sector would cost Rs 14,993.

Malaysia Airlines operates 30 weekly flights from India to Malaysia and globally flies to over 100 destinations across six continents.

AirAsia had recently announced special fares from Indian destinations to Kuala Lumpur which include a Delhi-Kuala Lumpur return ticket for Rs 11,000.
