In an effort to further boost its base among low-end customers, mobile phone major Nokia on Wednesday launched two new handsets for entry-level buyers.

Nokia 1110 and Nokia 1600, priced at Rs 3,869 and Rs 4,679 respectively, provide user applications in Hindi, Tamil, Bengali, Marathi and Gujarati.

Meanwhile, Nokia launched a new WCDMA base station to enable cellphone operators to make more efficient use of their base station sites.

'Nokia Flexi WCDMA Base Station' allows technology evolution to multi-radio networks, as its modules can also be fitted inside existing Nokia UltraSite EDGE Base Station cabinets.

According to a company release the customers can make more efficient use of their base station sites than ever before, leading to site cost savings of up to 70 per cent through reduced site construction work, quick base station installation and decreased power consumption.

The product also supports WCDMA and High Speed Packet Access technologies, and its modular architecture is compatible with Open Base Station Architecture Initiative specifications that will later also allow operators to rapidly deploy new technologies, including WiMAX.
