Communications and IT Minister Dayanidhi Maran resigned on Sunday night from the Union Cabinet after his Dravida Munnettra Kazhagam party served him a notice for 'actions detrimental to the party'.

Since the time Maran took charge of the telecom ministry, he had taken major initiatives such as bringing down telecom tariffs, hiking the foreign direct investment limit in the telecom sector to 74 per cent, propagating broadband and introducing policies to focus on rural connectivity.

While mobile industry head honchos feel Maran's resignation will put brakes on the growth of telecom, others think his resignation would hit Indian economy to a great extent.

After Maran took charge of the ministry, India started adding over six million mobile subscribers a month while he set a target of 500 million telephone connections by 2010.

Do you think Maran's resignation will hit the telecom industry?

What measures should India government take to maintain the growth story founded by Maran?

Who do you think could be the perfect replacement for such a dynamic person?

How do you think India's telecom industry should counter the crisis caused by Maran's departure?
