Sunil Mittal is best Asian Telecom CEO

The chairman and group managing director of Bharti Enterprises, Sunil Bharti Mittal, was chosen the best Asian Telecom CEO while Bharti Tele-ventures was adjudged the best GSM carrier in Asia and best Indian carrier at the Telecom Asia awards 2005.

Bharti is the only Indian company to figure in the merit list at Telecom Asia 2005, a Bharti release said.

The awards are the largest and most prestigious honours programme in Asian telecommunications, and have been presented annually since 1998.

Eight

carriers from seven different markets around the region were presented with their trophies at a ceremony at Bali.

A 12-member panel decided on the awards based on financial analysis by leading telecom research firm, the Yankee Group, the release added.
