Nashik district collector P Velarasu has urged agitating Mahindra and Mahindra employess and its management to amicably resolve their differences within two days.
He said that he will be sending a report on the matter to the government.
Velarasu held a meeting with represntatives of workers union and the management, on Monday night with a veiew to end the workers tool down agitation since May 4.
He asked both the parties to take initiative to end the impasse. He told both the parties that the strike was affecting several other industries which were depending on M&M and warned that if the deadlock goes on further it may turn into a law and order problem in the city.
The agitation has become a major issue in the district and the workers union office-bearers demanded unconditional withdrawal of the 'inqury suspension order' against the union president Madhav Dhatrak. The workers are demanding a hike in their salaries.
After the meeting, some employees said that the company management always pickup 'some excuse' when the wage agreement is to be signed.The workers' union representative said that they would not withraw their agitation unless the management unconditionally revokes the suspension of the employees.
About 70 to 80 other small industries in the district will also be affected due to their strike. He said both parties were asked to take care about law and order indide and outside the company premises.
The deputy labour commissioner T G Cholake said that the hearing in the case will take place today in the Nasik labour court. Both the parties are firm on thier respective stands.
Meanwhile the tool down agitation by the workers entered ninth day on Tuesday.
