Cooking gas prices have been raised by Rs 3 a cylinder, after the government allowed a rise in the commission paid to dealers.

The commission has been increased by Rs 3 a cylinder for both subsidised and non-subsidised, with effect from October 23, to Rs 43.71.

The commission was last hiked in December 2013 by the same amount and by Rs  11 per cylinder in 2012. After the hike, the cost of a subsidised 14.2-kg cylinder will touch Rs 417 per cylinder from Rs 414 in Delhi.

In Mumbai, a subsidised liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) cylinder will cost Rs  452 per cylinder against Rs 448.50 previously. Now, a non-subsidised cylinder will cost Rs  883.50. India has 13,896 LPG distributors at present.
