Acer on Wednesday launched its new notebook, the Aspire 1362 NLC for Rs 35,999.
The company says this is a breakthrough price in the notebook category, targeting small and medium enterprises, home users and students. With this, Acer hopes that its notebooks will be affordable to consumers across the country.
Acer has also designed a Student Rebate Programme, under which students can avail a special rebate of Rs 2,500 on this notebook. Students will need to provide their identification card /registration number with their respective institution.
The Aspire 1362 NLC is an entry-level notebook and equipped with a 15 inch TFT screen. It is powered by an AMD 2800 Sempron processor and is run by the AMD PowerNow! ) technology which enables the user to enjoy a battery life of close to three hours.
The notebook has a 256 MB DDR RAM and 40 GB HDD. It offers good connectivity with four USB ports, along with a 24 X CD RW +DVD-Combo optical drive. Also part of the notebook is the 56K Fax and integrated LAN.
The Aspire 1362 NLC sports a metallic finish with sleek lines and a 2-spindle Folio design featuring a logo plaque. The Aspire 1362 NLC runs on a Linux operating system and comes with a one-year warranty and a 100 hours Internet pack.
The laptop will be available through the Acer distribution channel and Acer retail outlets.
S Rajendran, general manager (sales and marketing), consumer products group, Acer India (Pvt) Ltd, said at the launch: "It has been Acer's philosophy to provide our customers with the best technology at an affordable price. This new product in our portfolio is a reflection of this commitment. With the new Student Rebate Programme, a student can now own a notebook for as low as Rs 33,499."
