Known as 'paradise on the earth', mountain-locked Kashmir Valley would soon come up on the country's railway map as the local train traffic would commence in the Valley by the end of 2006.

Official sources said the trains would run from Anantnag (Awantipora) to Rajvansher (Baramulla) on 44.3 kms of track as work on Qazigund-Baramulla national railine project is going on fast pace.

The track would soon be laid as other constructions like railway station at Awantipora, Kakpora, Pampora, Srinagar and Budgam have already been completed, they said.

Announcement to this effect is expected to be made by general manager northern railway, V N Mathur soon.

The work to manufacture special coaches for Kashmir weather is going on in the Indian Coach Factory, Chennai, the sources said. The coaches would be prepared by September.

They will be taken by road to Kashmir Valley at that time, and a maintenance complex would be setup at Budgam for DMUs.
