In a bid to encourage more investment in India, Japan had decided to open its second business support centre in Mumbai, which would become operational during the next fiscal.

Japan External Trade Organisation decided to open its second centre buoyed by success of the BSC in New Delhi, JETRO director general Naoyoshi Noguchi told an Indo-Japan business delegation in Bhubabneswar on Tuesday.

Stating that the economic potential between Japan and India had not been fully exploited, Noguchi said India's share in Japan's international trade amounted to just one per cent.

''No doubt there is a vast potential to be tapped.''

''While both Japan and India have been expanding their respective economic relationship with east Asia, both the countries possess a common goal,'' he said.

Noguchi said as part of the efforts to facilitate flow of Japanese FDI to India, several delegations from Japan would visit the country.

''In fact we are hosting a 50-member delegation, which will be looking at feasibility of investment options along Delhi-Mumbai industrial corridor. The earlier visit by some delegations had given positive response as some of them were interested to invest in India. It is true that there is a strong revival of interest in India among the Japanese, as India is recognised as world's biggest emerging market,'' he said.

''India's 'Look East' policy has encouraged the Japanese investors towards this country,'' he added.
