Infosys prepares to take Accenture and IBM head-on in their own turf and rules with an aim to play big game on global scale, according to independent technology and market research company Forrester.
"Infosys prepares to fight it out in a market dominated by Accenture and IBM leveraging global leadership to extend access," Sudin Apte, senior analyst and country head (India), Forrester Research, said in Bangalore on Friday. "..the bet Infosys is playing is to continue leverage India cost model and at the same time aim to play big game of global scale -- head-on with the likes of Accenture, on their own turf and rules," Apte told a press conference.
Forrester recently interviewed the chief executive officers and members of senior management team at Infosys Technologies, Tata Consultancy Services and Wipro Technologies.
During 120 to 150-minute interactions, they talked about their respective strategies and how they planned to prosper in an increasingly competitive market.
"In contrast to three years ago -- when they stated fairly similar and undifferentiated positions, this time around, we heard a set of dramatically divergent strategies," Apte said.
Wipro is continuing core differentiation based on new ways to cut costs via efficiency boosters and deploying low cost labour, whereas vast talent pool and size, biggest global delivery footprint, and relatively large client base are in favour of TCS, he said.
"Their (TCS's) go-to-market includes building on this track record, and demonstrates capability mainly via technology centric offering -- a sort of safe middle way, as compared to Infosys and Wipro."
