He pointed out that for the first time country's economic growth rate had crossed 8 per cent mark while the foreign exchange reserve was over $160 billion mark and highlighted the substantial contribution the IT sector has made to the country's economic growth.

"The IT sector has been able to create a very positive impression among developed nations that India is a country that has
some of the world's best IT companies. Today, we develop software for the world's top-line banks, financial institutions and retailers," he said.

Emphasising the need for much better performance by the IT sector, the Infosys chairman reiterated his famous mantra of 'performance brings recognition, recognition brings respect and respect brings power'.

According to him the government has done all for the corporate sector and now it was time for the corporate leaders to perform better. "It is the time for corporate leaders to deliver what people expect from them", Murthy added.

The IT guru said, "The country was faced with challenges to achieve certain goals to become a developed nation. The hardest challenge we face is how to make available all good opportunities to poorer section of people for development in all fronts".
