IBM said on Tuesday it will set up a development centre in Pune, which will develop, manage and deliver industry-specific business services to its clients.
The company announced the opening of a similar Services Oriented Architecture centre in Beijing.
Both the centres, which are based on Services Oriented Architecture would serve as the foundation of a new, globally integrated model for delivering SOA-based services for the company, it said in a statement.
The SOA services market is expected to reach $160 billion by 2008, the statement said adding, about 500 IBM SOA experts would be deployed in each of the centres.
The centre in Pune would initially develop repeatable business services for the insurance industry, including home and auto rate quoting as well as health care business services, such as claim filing and response.
The resources from IBM labs in Hyderabad would also support development activity in Pune and work closely with the IBM Global Business Solution Center in Bangalore.
The Beijing centre would develop services for governments, including financial and case management as well as services for banks like real time, risk-based loan pricing.
"The new SOA Solution Centres will serve as a resource to offer clients reusable industry-specific components and services they need to quickly solve their most important business issues," IBM Global Business Services senior Vice President Ginni Rometty said.
