IBM India has posted a revenue marketshare growth of 7 per cent in the country's overall server market and grew by over 100 per cent on a year-on-year basis in second-quarter of 2003, according to International Data Corporation.
The company's server market grew to 3,455 units during the quarter under review, compared to 1,648 units posted during the same period of last fiscal, IBM India said in a release here today, quoting the IDC's Server Tracker report.
IBM India's revenue marketshare increased by 4.1 percentage points in RISC/Unix and 1.9 percentage points in X86 server (Intel servers) segments during the quarter.
Terming the growth as the 'highest' recorded by a server vendor in the country, IBM said this growth brings it to the top slot, reducing the margin between the current leader and itself.
The company had recorded a year-on-year growth of 9.3 percentage points in the overall server market during the first-half of 2003, which it claims is the highest by any vendor in the country.
IBM India had posted a revenue marketshare growth of 7.7 percentage points and 8.1 percentage points in Unix and x86 servers, respectively, in H1 of 2003, it said.
The company's presence in the Indian server market grew by over 100 per cent to 7,039 units during the first half of the current year, compared to 2,983 units sold during the same period a year ago, it said.
IBM posted a 35.9 per cent growth in the ASEAN market in Q2 of 2003, it said.
