Hindustan Motors Limited of C K Birla group will launch multi-utility vehicle manufactured at its Uttarpara plant in the state.
The vice-president (marketing) of HM, Satish Burman, told PTI on Monday that the multi-utility vehicle would be both in the goods and passenger categories, and would compete with products offered by Tata Motors and Mahindra.
Burman said that HM planned to launch new models every three months, for which considerable investments had been made at the plant in Uttarpara, West Bengal.
Meanwhile, the company is banking upon the newly-introduced Ambassador 'Grand' model, Burman said, adding that a 30 per cent rise in sales was expected in the current financial year.
In the last year, HM sold nearly 15,000 Ambassadors, which is likely to go up to 20,000 in the current year.
The Grand model has power steering, remote shift gear and power brakes.
