If everything falls in place, apples will be grown in arid region of Kutch in Gujarat. A local agriculture company named Shree Ashapura Farm and Nursery has taken up apple farming in Bhuj on experimental basis. Apple farming is being done for the first time in the state.

"Though on a small scale, we are trying to grow apple at Bhuj in Kutch, which has dry and hot climatic conditions. We have already planted apple trees and flowering has also taken place. However, trees are yet to get fruits. It will take some time to get success as Kutch is arid region and apple fruits grow in cold atmosphere," said Batuksinh Jadeja of Shree Ashapura Farm and Nursery.

"We intend to plant apple trees in green houses, where proper atmosphere can be created for apple farming. We are in no hurry to succeed in this project," he added.

It may be mentioned here that, Ashapura Farm has successfully grown 100 to 150 kg of cashew by planting 200-250 trees. Established 45 years ago, Ashapura Farm & Nursery has been engaged into the farming of mangoes, papaya, chikoo and a variety of vegetables.

On Ashapura Farm and Nursery's 125 acres of fertile land, the company has produced a variety of different fruits and vegetables. Over the years, Company has not only implemented latest state-of-the-art technology, but also integrated vertically to give itself an edge over its competitors.

Since last 45 years, Ashapura farm uses music therapy for trees planted in its farms. The owner of the company believes that music helps plants grow and nourish properly. Ashapura Farm & Nursery today stands as the pioneer in the field of fruits export.
