Finolex Inds to ramp up capacity

Finolex Industries is increasing its capacity to produce polyvinyl chloride pipes to 52,000 tonne a year during the current fiscal.

The company is the largest producer of PVC pipes in the country and enjoys an over 20 per cent market share.

The company is increasing its capacity in anticipation of a growing demand for irrigation as well as drinking water across the country.

Besides the demand is also expected from government/ quasi government bodies for urban/rural water supply and sanitation.

The company has informed the exchange that "Finolex has recently increased its PVC Pipes capacity from 36000 mt per annum to 49000 mt per

annum. and with this expansion it is now poised to spread its wings all over India. The capacity will be further expanded to 52,000 mt during the current fiscal."

An aggressive player in the market, Finolex is expanding its distribution network in Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh.

The company has a network of almost 2,000 dealers an sub-dealers spread all over the country.

The consumption of PVC has steadily increasing. In 2001-02, there was a 16 per cent demand growth in PVC.
