"It will reopen on October 31," he said at the state secretariat. Dunlop India's new owner Pawan Kumar Ruia had told reporters after meeting with the chief minister on October 12 that the plant's maintenance work was complete and production would start by this month.
While the unit would initially make tyres and industrial products, it would subsequently produce aero tyres, he said.
Dunlop's smaller plant at Ambattur near Chennai began commercial production in August as the first step towards the company's revival.
Ruia had taken over Dunlop India along with two other tyre companies last year from Dubai-based Jumbo group and has since worked out a revival package by offering VRS to a section of workers.
