Realising the strategic importance and growth potential, the US cola giant Coca-Cola has decided to focus on Indian operations as part of which the company's global president (bottling operations) Irial Finan visited India a few days ago.
Finan followed his CEO Neville Isdell, who visited Indian operations, which turned profitable two years ago, last month to meet top officials of Coca Cola India and surveyed major bottling units.
When contacted, company spokesperson told PTI: "Finan has already visited India. He was here to give strategic inputs on how to drive the affordability strategy in the most efficient and cost effective manner."
He was here to "understand this (Indian) most strategic market for the Coca-Cola in terms of the brands, the business practices and its people," the spokesperson added.
It is significant to note that both Isdell and Finan took the trip to India shortly after assuming charge of the office at the head of global operations.
Last month, Isdell paid a whirlwind two-day visit to India, holding meetings with top management of the Indian operations and the government officials, primarily on environmental issues.
The visit assumed significance as India was the first country Isdell visited soon after assuming the new assignment.
Isdell reviewed the entire operations, including bottling and held detailed discussions with Coke India president Sanjeev Gupta.
It was reported that Isdell expressed satisfaction over the functioning of Coke's Indian operations.
