The Confederation of Indian Industry is revamping and repositioning its popular industry fair IETF to enhance its international outlook.
To be rechristened as International Engineering and Technology Fair (as against India Engineering Trade Fair), the event this year would be an umbrella trade fair with several sectoral events wrapped under it.
The 15th IETF will be held in the capital from February 5-8. More than 22 countries have confirmed their participation in the fair.
China will be the partner country this year and more than 100 companies from there are expected to participate in the show.
"Global business finds itself frequently redefined by technology and innovation-induced paradigm shifts," Piyush Behl, head, CII International, said.
There will be four focused business fairs in the IETF covering water management, biotechnology, air-conditioning and refrigeration and sub-contracting and support services.
There is a 20 per cent increase in the budget of the fair owing to the new events that will coincide with the show. As many as 24 sectoral conferences will take place during the four-day period.
For the first time, the CII has introduced The India Infrastructure Show to be held concurrently with the IETF.
TIIS, projected to be the biggest show in Asia on infrastructure, would represent cross-sector opportunities in airports, ports, power, railways, roads and highways, telecom, urban infrastructure and housing and water management.
"The past few years have seen the government take major initiatives in opening up infrastructure development to private sector in an effort to build strong public-private partnerships," said Behl.
"The show will provide a common platform to bring together a diverse cross-section of stakeholders from India and abroad," he said.
