Advani to inaugurate CII's summit on Jan 5

The ninth Confederation of Indian Industry partnership summit, to be held in Hyderabad from January 5-8, would showcase Andhra Pradesh's efforts in providing infrastructure to industrialists in India and abroad.

The four-day summit, to be inaugurated by the Deputy Prime Minister L K Advani, would effectively market the state in the world, K Vidyadhara Rao, Andhra Pradesh Minister for Industries, told newspersons in Hyderabad on Thursday.

The state has taken a lead in reforming various sectors, implementation of information technology and setting up of world-class institutes, he said.

He said the summit would be chaired by the Union ministers, including Yashwant Sinha, Jaswant Singh, George Fernandes, Ram Naik, Rajiv Pratap Rudy and Arun Shourie.

As a prelude to the summit, Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has extended invitations to top industrialists of the country on December 30 to discuss the investment and participation of private sector in gas, tourism, IT, hardware and revival of major sick industries, Rao informed.

He said the state has been attracting foreign investment and agreements worth Rs 37,000 crore (Rs 370 billion) had been signed, while Rs 3000 crore (Rs 30 billion) has already been invested, the remaining investment was in the pipeline.

The summit is expected to be attended by 800 delegates including 250 from abroad.

He said the summit would also discuss and explore possibilities for business relations with Pakistan though "we have different political ideologies".
