Swiss watch major Bovet is now in India. The premium watch company will launch a 39 mm watch with a hand-painted blue and rust Ganesha image on a white dial. The Rs 21 lakh (Rs 2.1 million) watch is Bovet's tribute to India.

"We will introduce the watch in Maharashtra during the Ganesha festival next month," said Ajay Malhotra of RPA Distributors, sole distributors of Bovet in India.

The company is bringing its core collection of watches to India and will unveil them first in Delhi and other metros.

Bovet is also launching its artistic range in the Indian market for the wedding season. Its range of watches starts at Rs 3 lakh (Rs 300,000).

The company plans to introduce three main collections: Fleurier, Fleurier Complications, and Sportster.

A majority of Bovet's production of around 2,000 watches a year are unique pieces. The company was first started in 1822 to display the arts of European horology to the Chinese aristocracy.
