Bharti Group, which has bid for modernisation of the Delhi airport, would consider taking up similar jobs for other non-metro airports if it wins the bid, its chief Sunil Mittal said on Tuesday.
"We will look at the non-metro airports if we are granted Delhi and we gain some experience out of it," he said after an hour-long meeting with Civil Aviation Minister Praful Patel in New Delhi.
He said the DLF Universal Limited would hold equity stake in the consortium with Bharti-Changi for the Delhi airport. DLF had last week left its partner Malaysian Airport Holdings Bhd to join hands with the Bharti-Changi consortium.
Mittal said the DLF would "add lot of value" to the consortium as it has lot of experience in the real estate business.
With DLF and Changi, that owns and runs the world-class airport in Singapore, being part of the consortium, "we will have one of the finest airports in the world in Delhi", he said, adding that the consortium was concentrating on building most modern airport terminals and other facilities in Delhi.
"Airports now are a whole world in itself", Mittal said indicating that the modern airport complex had a range of facilities -- from shopping mall and hotels to cinema halls and even golf courses.
Besides Bharti-Changi-DLF, eight more consortia have bid for the restructuring and modernisation of Delhi and Mumbai airports. The selected bidder would form two joint venture companies with the Airports Authority of India for the two airports.
