The Indian automotive industry is also spending on the initiative

PM Modi at the ‘Make in India’ eventAs India pushes to become a global manufacturing hub, Suzuki Motor Corporation Chairman and chief executive officer Osamu Suzuki on Thursday stressed on the need for 'Quality in India', especially in auto components sector to become a top international supplier.

"It is mentioned here Make in India, I'd like to add Quality in India," Suzuki said while addressing the annual session of ACMA in New Delhi.

Reiterating the need to focus on quality he said, "I believe if all suppliers follow Quality in India, then they will be able to overcome the US and China and they can acquire the number one position in global market."

The global recall of more than one million units of vehicles has put the focus on quality, he said, adding ‘hence it doesn't leave any doubt that quality is an important key to success and in this regard everyone must have noticed that in today's situation vendor selection on basis of quality is inevitable.’

As Prime Minister Modi is pushing for Make in India, the Indian automotive industry is also spending on the initiative but a focus on quality will determine if the components industry can become a global leader or not, he said.

Asking component makers to reinvest profits in their business, Suzuki said, "I request all of you to reinvest your profits from components business in the same business.

“Please do not divert profits in investing in hotels or leisure.

“This is going to be the key point, the most critical point whether you are going to acquire top position in global market or not."

He asked the component makers to reinvest profits from 'plant one to set up plant two and so on'.
