Kerala govt plans technocity

With an objective of increasing the state's share in IT business, Kerala government would set up a technocity as part of the fourth phase of expansion of technopark in Thiruvananthapuram, Chief Minister Oommen Chandy said on Wednesday.

Laying the foundation stone for the seventh industrial modules building 'Tejaswini' in the technopark campus, Chandy said technocity would come up on a 500 acre-land.

The new building when completed would offer six lakh square feet of office space. Referring to the development in technopark, he said work of second phase of expansion on a 86 acre-land was in progress.

The acquisition process for 100 acres of land for taking up third stage expansion of technopark has been completed.

With regard to the proposed smart city project, he said the government wanted the project to come up in the state itself. The government would do everything possible to implement the project, he added.
