Indian infotech major Tata Consultancy Services has become the country's first billion-dollar software company.

TCS posted 20 per cent growth in revenues at Rs 5,012 crore (Rs 50.12 billion or $1.075 billion) for the year ending March 31, 2003 compared to Rs 4,187 crore (Rs 41.87 billion) in the previous fiscal.

Exports during the period under review stood at Rs 4545.26 crore (Rs 45.45 billion) compared to Rs 3,865.59 crore (Rs 38.65 billion) in the previous fiscal, TCS chief executive officer S Ramadorai told newspersons in Mumbai on Friday.

Domestic sales for FY'03 stood at Rs 369.07 crore (Rs 3.69 billion) compared to Rs 247.89 crore (Rs 2.47 billion), he added.

Other income for the year under review stood at Rs 98.05 crore (Rs 980.5 million) as against Rs 57.90 crore (Rs 579 million) in the previous year, he said, adding that the company had added 4,763 employees in 2002-03.

The revenues are on stand alone basis and do include the sales of CMC Ltd, which was acquired following its divestment two years ago.
