Finally Samsung Galaxy S III is here. The South Korean giant unveiled its much-awaited phone in the Galaxy series -- S III, in London May 3.

The phone will be available for sale in Europe May 29 and will roll out across various geographies after that. Since the iPhone 5 is expected five months later Samsung seems to have got a heads up over competition.

Leaving Samsung's conventional design aside Samsung, for a change, has built Galaxy S III inspired by nature.

It's available in two colours: marble white and pebble blue. S III comes with a 4.8-inch HD super AMOLED display with a resolution of 1280 x 720 and 309ppi pixel density display. At 8.6 mm thickness S III weighs just 133g.

A slim bezel with just one physical button and minimalistic design allows Samsung Galaxy S III a larger display area.

It runs on 1.4GHz quad-core Exynos processor with 1GB RAM, Ice Cream Sandwich 4.0 and customised Samsung Touchwiz UI 4.0.

Interestingly, all those memory-hungry fans will feel sated as the S III comes with three memory options: 16, 32 and 64 gig internal memory. What's more it is further expandable up to 64 GB giving a maximum of 128GB memory.

The 2,100 mAh removable larger battery guarantees a marathon battery life.

The S III comes with 8 megapixel auto focus camera with bright LED flash and new backside illuminated sensor. Photos can be taken with zero time lag, that is, three photos per second manually or 20 in burst mode (a fraction more than 6 photos per sec).

The 1.2MP front-facing camera allows 720p HD recording.

Voice recognition

Come on Siri, here's S-Voice from Samsung!

With this Siri-like voice recognition software you can make S III wake you up by ringing an alarm, set off an alarm, turn the music volume up or down or even tell the camera when to shoot pictures.

Eye tracking features

Social tag

This feature lets you link the face of your friends in a photo album with their social media streams. Once done, the eye-tracking sensor brings up the current status of your friends when you look at them in a photo on the S III's screen.

Smart Stay

The smart eye sensor of the S III automatically finds out when you are looking at the screen, reading something, surfing or watching video. It keeps track of your eyes and maintains a bright display for continued viewing.

Looking away from the phone for a while puts the screen into sleep mode.

Direct Call

This feature allows you to make a call while messaging. Suppose in the midst of typing out a message you make up your mind to call your friend. What you need to do is just put the phone to you ears and it will automatically call that person. Bingo, it's so easy.

Smart Alert

Your girlfriend/boyfriend calls you but you are not near your phone? No worries. The Smart Alert feature gives you a vibrating nudge to inform you about missed calls and messages when you were away.

S Beam

Tweaking the NFC (near field communication) feature a bit further, S Beam combines Android Beam and WiFi Direct, enabling two Galaxy S III users to exchange videos, music and other big files by just putting backs of the two phone together.

Buddy Photo Share

As you take photo it intelligently recognises the faces of your friends and enables you to share the shots with these friends instantly.

Pop Up Play

A perfect use of multitasking. It lets you watch video as well as type you mail at the same time.

Best Photo

This setting helps users shoot 8 pictures in a burst while capturing moving objects and chooses the best for you.
