Vote for the best-dressed minister in Modi's cabinet

We are asking you for your take on the sartorial choices of these ministers.

They've won people's hearts and are set to govern us for the next five years.

As a new set of ministers took oath May 26, we'd love to know from you how they fared, sartorially, on their big day at the Rashtrapati Bhavan.

Don't forget to take the poll at the end of each page and tell us just what you think of each minister's choice of outfit.


Let's start with Smriti Irani who made a statement in this red-and-black sari with the lotus motif.

The choice of colours is significant because red, among other things, signifies bravery and strength, while black (especially in a garment) suggests power and sophistication.

BJP's party symbol, the lotus, finds a prominent place on the sari and is quite aesthetic if you ask us.

Arun Jaitley

He may have lost the election but as a Rajya Sabha MP, Arun Jaitley can indeed be part of the cabinet ministers.

So here he is, in subdued shades, taking oath of office.

Narendra Modi

The trademark half-sleeves, knee-length 'Modi Kurta' was conspicuous by its absence as the new Prime Minister opted for the more traditional full-sleeved version to suit the formality of the grand occasion.

Giving his party colours and symbol a pass, Narendra Modi went for shades of brown and pinned an Indian tricolour to his chest, a significant move away from the loud saffron jackets and a gaudy lotus badge that he has worn in the past.
