It is surprising that 27 years later, the vintage Thierry Mugler metal bikini fit her like a glove.

Flash back to the year 1991 when Danish model Helena Christensen was photographed by American photographer Herb Ritts for Los Angeles magazine.

For the photo shoot, Helena, who was just 22 then, was dressed in a metal bikini by Thierry Mugler.

The mag cover titled 'A Brave New Year 1991', saw Helena rock the two-piece with such elan.

27 years later, Instyle magazine has managed to lay their hands on the same bikini, and they got Helena to wear it, above, and pose on their mag cover.

Surprisingly, when the former Victoria's Secret model slid their fabulous frame into the two-piece it fit her beautifully.

'We all look more or less the same, and we all have our bodies and body issues, so I thought 'Just get with it,'' she told the crew at the shoot.

Excited that the shoot turned out incredibly well, Helena uploaded a pic of her in the metal bikini in 1991 and another pic from the Instyle shoot.

'I wore this exact Thierry Mugler metal outfit when my dear friend and mentor Herb Ritts photographed me in 1991 for LA magazine,' she wrote.

'It was a tight squeeze then and it's a tight squeeze now, but I did it.

'Thank you for bringing this amazing piece back to me! So excited to be part of this issue with all those true badass girls,' added the former supermodel who reunited with the original 90s supermodels Carla Bruni, Claudia Schiffer, Naomi Campbell and Cindy Crawford, as they showstopped together for Versace last year.
