What: Common Law Admission Test 2008 (CLAT 2008) details


~ Admission to Under Graduate & Post Graduate Programmes 2008-09 at Seven Law Schools: NLSIU, Bangalore, NALSAR, Hyderabad, NLIU, Bhopal, NUJS, Kolkata, NLU, Jodhpur, HNLU, Raipur, GNLU, Gandhinagar

~ Date of Common Law Admission Test Sunday, May 11, 2008 between 3 and 5 pm

~ Indian Nationals seeking admission to the courses mentioned above must appear in CLAT.

~ Foreign Nationals should consult the websites of the respective Law Schools Under-Graduate Programmes

~ Eligibility: 10+2 Examination or equivalent with not less than 50% marks (students taking qualifying examination in March / April 2008 are also eligible to apply)

~ Age limit: 20 Years as on 1st July, 2008 (For reserved categories - refer to the information brochure)

~ Pattern: The test paper will consist of 5 Sections with objective type questions only

Post-graduate Programme (EXCEPT FOR NLU, JODHPUR)

~ Eligibility: Consult the information brochure

Application process

~ Applications will be issued from 31st January, 2008.

~ Last date for sending the filled in application form along with the enclosures will be April 10, 2008.

~ Off-line:

i) Printed application forms along with the brochure will be available at the designated branches of the Corporation Bank [Get Quote] and State Bank of India [Get Quote] against the payment of Rs 2,000 only (inclusive of test fee and bank charges).

ii) Request for applications may be sent to the Convener, CLAT, National Law School of India University, Bangalore - 560 242, with a demand draft for Rs 2,000 drawn in favour of the Convener, CLAT, and payable at Bangalore.

iii) Applications can also be downloaded from The downloaded application along with the DD and other enclosures should be sent to the Convener, CLAT at the address mentioned above.

~ On-Line:

i) For online submission of applications, visit The completed and printed Online CLAT 2008 application form along with DD for Rs 2,000 drawn in favour of Convener, CLAT and payable at Bangalore along with other enclosures should be sent to the Convener, CLAT at the above address. Incomplete applications will be rejected.

Important Dates:

31st January, 2008: Start date for sales of application forms
10th April, 2008: Last date for receipt of application forms
11th May, 2008: Test Date (Common Law Admission Test)
17th May, 2008: Announcement of results
30th May, 2008: Last date for completing the 1st round admission formalities
31st May, 2008: Notifying the vacancies
7th June, 2008: Completion of the admission
