The condition of Gujarat Vishwa Hindu Parishad general secretary Jaideep Patel, who was shot by two unidentified gunmen on Tuesday, is stable.

He is admitted at a private hospital in Ahmedabad.

"At present Patel is completely stable. He is being examined thoroughly and will be operated upon by plastic, neuro, ENT [Ear, Nose and Throat] and Ophthalmology surgeons on Wednesday afternoon," Dr V N Shah said.

Patel had been struck by bullet in the "skull base". “It did not cause any complications but would have to be removed through multiple surgery,” Shah said.

Security has been beefed up in the city and the state government has announced a reward of Rs 50,000 for providing clues about the assailants.
