VHP to protest against attack on Jaideep Patel

December 04, 2002 17:43 IST

The Vishwa Hindu Parishad will hold rallies and demonstrations throughout Gujarat on Thursday to protest against the attack on its leader Dr Jaideep Patel.

"It was an attack by militants with a motive to disrupt peace and elections in the state," VHP international general secretary Pravin Togadia said in Ahmedabad on Wednesday.

The VHP will also observe 'Shauryadivas' on December 6 throughout the country to mark the 10th anniversary of the demolition of the Babri mosque in Ayodhya.

Togadia earlier called on Patel at Sterling Hospital.

Two motorcycle-borne gunmen had shot at Patel on Tuesday evening when he was going to his clinic in a car.
