Police arrested two Zimbabwean international cricket players and an official at the weekend on charges linked to violation of foreign exchange laws, police said on Monday.
Zimbabwe Cricket (ZC) has been rocked by squabbles of late with board members accusing chairman Peter Chingoka and managing director Ozias Bvute of mismanagement. Both deny the charges.
The official Herald newspaper said in a Monday report that internationals Vusi Sibanda and Waddington Mwayenga and Zimbabwe Cricket official Mohammed Meman had been arrested on Saturday and were helping police with investigations.
Harare provincial police spokesman Loveless Rupere confirmed the arrests on Monday but offered no further details.
The arrests followed a probe by the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe into the Zimbabwe Cricket affairs, especially its handling of foreign currency earnings. Police were this week expected to question six more players over transactions in their offshore foreign currency accounts, the newspaper said.
MANAGEMENT STYLES
The Herald said police would also question Chingoka and Bvute as part of investigations into the case.
The two were unavailable for comment but the newspaper quoted a ZC statement as saying Chingoka and Bvute "have an appointment today (Monday) with the police to speak on behalf of the board and not in their personal capacities and related personal transactions".
The ZC is embroiled in squabbles, which have already seen Tatenda Taibu quit his post as captain saying he was unhappy with the management styles of Chingoka and Bvute. Taibu has vowed not to return to international cricket until Chingoka and Bvute step down.

"My office is not aware of that meeting, it could have been called by some members of the Zimbabwe Cricket, but I do not have any information on such a meeting," Banda said.
