MVP: Dilshan slowly rising to the top
Srinivas Bhogle and Purnendu Maji present the 50 most valuable players in the World Cup after the four quarter-finals.
Just when it seemed like a two-horse race, Tillakaratne Dilshan [ Images ] has also jumped into contention to be the most valuable player (MVP) of World Cup 2011 with his explosive century against England [ Images ].
The table below shows the updated top 50 MVP list after the four QF encounters.
The most valuable player index (MVPI) is calculated by adding together a player's batting, bowling and fielding index. The batting index is based on a combination of runs scored and strike rate; the bowling index uses a combination of the number of wickets taken and the economy rate; and the fielding index is based on the number of catches taken and the fielder's participation in run-out dismissals.
