  • This match was the 2001st LOI to be played since the first in January 1971.
  • Khaled Mahmud became the seventh player to captain Bangladesh in LOIs.
  • Gautam Gambhir and Aavishkar Salvi became the 149th and 150th players to represent India in LOIs.
  • Meharab Hossain, who has the distinction of being the only Bangladeshi to record a LOI hundred (101 v Zimbabwe at Dhaka on 25-3-1999) was making a comeback after missing 17 matches for his side. He last appeared against Pakistan at this very ground 15 months ago on 25-1-2002.
  • The catch of debutant Gautam Gambhir was Khaled Masud's 50th dismissal (41ct+9st) in 58 matches as keeper. He thus became the first Bangladeshi to reach this landmark.
  • The partnership of 92 runs between Yuvraj Singh and Ajit Agarkar was the highest ever stand by any team against Bangladesh for the seventh wicket obliterating the previous best of unbeaten 57 runs between West Indians Shivnarine Chanderpaul & Nehemiah Perry at this ground on 9-10-1999.
  • The above partnership was also the best for the seventh wicket by any team on Bangladeshi soil. The home team's Khaled Masud and Enamul Hoque had put on 85 against Pakistan at Chittagong on 22-1-2002. The previous best at this venue for the 7th wicket was the 72 runs put on by Bangladesh's Khaled Masud and Naimur Rahman against the West Indies on 2-12-2002.
  • The unbeaten 102 by Yuvraj Singh was his maiden three figure score in LoIs in his 71st match. His previous highest score was the unbeaten 98 against Sri Lanka at Colombo (SSC) on 1-8-2001.
  • This was the third hundred by an Indian against Bangladesh after 104 not out by Navjot Singh Sidhu (at Chandigarh on 25-12-1990) and 135 not out by Sourav Ganguly (at Dhaka on 30-5-2000).
  • By reaching his three figure mark in just 84 balls, Yuvraj has recorded the joint seventh fastest hundred by an Indian batsman in LOIs. This was also the third quickest hundred made against Bangladesh after West Indian Brian Lara (in 45 balls in 1999) and Sri Lankan Sanath Jayasuriya (in 72 balls in 1997).
  • Tapash Baishya (3-65)
became the first Bangladeshi bowler to take three wickets in a LOI match against India. Khaled Mahmud had figures of 2-12 at Mumbai on 25-5-1998, the previous best bowling figures for Bangladesh against India.
  • Since this was the first time in nine matches, India were batting first against Bangladesh, India's total of 276 was its highest against this team. India had made 252-2 in 40.1 overs when the two teams last met at this very ground on 30-5-2000.
  • Debutant Aavishkar Salvi (off his fifth legitimate ball) became the eleventh Indian bowler to claim a wicket off his very first over in LOIs. Interestingly, he becomes the fifth Mumbai player to achieve this after Sunil Gavaskar, Sanjay Manjrekar, Paras Mhambrey and Vinod Kambli. Mhambrey and Salvi are the only genuine bowlers in this list.
  • The partnership of 22 runs between Khaled Mahmud and Mohammad Rafique was Bangladesh's best for the 8th wicket against India, bettering the previous best of just 10 runs between Khaled Mahmud and Hasibul Hossain at Mohali on 14-5-1998.
  • Zaheer Khan's 4-19 was his best bowling performance of his career in his 68th match. His previous best bowling figures was the 4-42, which he has achieved on three occasions -- against Zimbabwe at Sharjah on 26-10-2000 and at Bulawayo on 27-6-2001 and against New Zealand at Centurion on 14-3-2003.
  • Bangladesh's 76 (in 27.3 overs) equals its lowest total in LOIs. The team had made 76 (in 30.1 overs) against Sri Lanka at Colombo (SSC) on 5-8-2002.
  • Incidentally, Bangladesh's 76 was its lowest ever total made against India in LOIs. India had dismissed Pakistan for 87 (in 32.5 overs) at Sharjah on 22-3-1985.
  • The margin of victory by 200 runs was India's largest in LOIs in terms of runs. Its previous biggest win margin was the 186 run victory against Kenya at Paarl on 24-10-2001.
  • The man of the match award was Yuvraj Singh's fifth of his career, in 71 matches.
